There was no doubt Spike was missing his buddy Chester, who died a week ago. Both boys had been having respiratory issues the last few weeks and the last couple weeks it got very bad. It was another hard, heart wrenching decision for me, but Spike was in a lot of pain and I had to have him put to sleep. Spike was such a nice boy, from day one and got along with any rats that shared the table with him. In fact, I can't ever remember seeing him fight or get puffy once. He was the friendliest boy to people too and there wasn't a single human that came through here that didn't think he was the best little (or big) guy ever.

A lot of rats I have I'll say "this rat is the poster child for why
rats are such great pets." Well, Spike
certainly fit that bill. Toward the end of his life, he found much
comfort in sitting on my lap and getting long scratches.
His fur was so nice and perfect, I loved petting the little guy.

Spike loved his treats. He was a pet store rescue (read
about him and Chester here).
Many people thought he was an albino at first, but he wasn't. He had
that very light colored mask on his face as you see here. He sure loved
his buddies a lot, especially Chester.
Bye, Spikey, you will be missed
