Good Bye Samson
b. unknown - d. 1/10/05

Samson loved his noodles too.

Samson was a rat who came from the San Diego "operation dumbo drop" rescue.  He was a rat who was by himself as he didn't get along with other rats. I promised to take him in and try and find a home for him. I also thought, for some reason, that I could get him integrated with my rats. Of course that didn't work, he wasn't a rat's rat. He did however, turn out to be a people's rat.

At first he didn't like me at all. He didn't want to be touched or anything. But eventually he totally grew to like me and even love me. He got to run around by himself for a couple hours at the end of the night after my other boys were put back up on their table. He would have a ball picking up the treats the others had stashed and he would spend half his time sitting with me on my chair or lying with me on the couch getting long scratches.  He was such a good boy. All he wanted in life was a little tent, a little box and a spoonful of vanilla pudding with his veggies everynight. He loved vanilla.

At first he was afraid of the camera, then he learned to love it.

He climbs in my lap on the couch, which he would often do.

It sucked that he didn't get along with other rats, but he
lived in his own palace, as you can see, getting his own table, his
own veggies and his own treats.

Here he's found a treat one of the other rats stashed.

Sitting next to me on my chair while I'm at the computer, he would always come join
me when I was here. He'd even climb up on my shoulder and survey the land for a while sometimes.

He was surprisingly a good rat in that he never chewed up any furniture or carpet, never seemed to destroy anything. He did like to try and harrass my other rats by trying to climb up on their table (it's made so they can't get up all the way) or sitting on his table watching them from across the way and dreaming of getting a chance to beat them up. I could never figure out why he just didn't like other rats. But that's okay, he loved all the people that came his way and he had a great life here.
