The Magnificent Seven

Day 11

December 16, 1998

They're starting to look less like little seals and more like little rats. I love the color division. Four have taken on their father's colors. Two look just like their mom. One is an albino (which comes from their father's side). Their fur is coming in. Like I say, I wish people could come and see them. They're very cute little critters.

I've been keeping Brook and the babies mostly in the bathroom while the other male rats are running around the house. She wants to be with the boys. I stepped away for literally 30 seconds and Luke had gotten the bathroom door open (I told you, Luke is super, super smart) and Brook was running around with the fellas. I don't think anyone got to her, there just wasn't enough time and she's way too quick. But you never know. I just want to make sure whoever ends up taking her is aware of that. But you'll never a nicer, more playful girl than Brook.

And she's doing such a great job with her babies. I'm really proud of her.

My little guy Dusty is coming along quite nicely, looking a lot like his mom. You've got to hold these little ones with two hands now because they move around so much. Eyes should be opening soon.

Then this little cute guy comes along. He's one of the other two remaining boys. He's got a little white dot right in the middle of his forehead. He may be the other one I keep.

You have to admit, this is a lovable little girl.
