The Two Brothers, Oscar and Felix are the only rats I have that are actually related. Oscar is the calm one, loves to be pet, always wants to be on me. He’ll climb on my shoulder if he’s ever near, which sometimes isn’t good, because if it’s hot and I’m not wearing a shirt, he’ll still try and claw his way to the top, leaving my skin covered in scratches. He’ll sit on my shoulder forever if I let him, though. I’ll be at my desk working and he’ll climb up there and watch. He’s the reason I’m into rodents. |

Felix is the black one, Oscar the white. Like human brothers, they fight sometimes, but they also play a lot. |

Felix is a little rougher than Oscar. Sometimes he gets really aggressive towards the other rats and beats them up. He’ll get Monty on the ground and wrestle him all over the place. Felix gets in these moods where he really wants to fight, including with me. He’s also the one who chews up my door frames all over the place. Oscar and Felix often travel with me. They both know my car pretty well now. They also know the room they spend most of their time up in the Bay Area pretty well too, when I’m up there. My nephew loves them and will spend all his time with them when he’s around. And of course, Oscar and Felix are total people rats. They love humans. |

I don’t know what it is, but for some reason, Felix beats up on Claude all the time. Claude is the peach colored male I own, about three months younger than Felix. Claude is deathly afraid of Felix and will squeal like a little girl if Felix makes a move to wrestle him. I think Felix takes advantage of Claude’s wimpiness just as a bully at school would to the 7th grade nerd. Felix will try that with Oscar on a occasion too, and usually Oscar will wrestle back, or sometimes, just sit there, as if to say "I’m bored with you." But if Oscar’s not in the mood…oh boy. Look out. Although I think Felix is the dominant rat of the bunch, Oscar can kick his little black butt if he wants to. When Felix is messing with him and Oscar’s not in the mood, Oscar flips out. Do you ever remember that time in junior high, where the kid who got picked on a little too much and flipped out? He ended up beating the hell out of the bully to the astonishment of everyone. That’s what happens with Oscar and Felix sometimes. Felix ends up running away and hiding until Oscar gets out of his mood. It’s hilarious. |

This is Felix when he was a baby. He was real shy and there was no way anyone could tell he'd become a tough guy |

Oscar and Felix have also been the reason other rats have been saved. Friends have come over to my place and see O & F and see how friendly they are. They themselves ended up getting pet rodents. But it’s funny how rats really do have distinct personalities. Oscar is the most affectionate rat I have. He will hang by my foot when I’m in the kitchen, forever. He loves humans. He loves his fellow rats. He’s the clean cut rodent. If he was human, he’d be everyone’s best friend. He hates getting a bath more than any of my rodents. He’s not much of a fighter, but if pushed, he can lick any other rat, including Felix. He understands "no" and is very obedient. Felix on the other hand, likes to get pet occasionally, but is more into exploring. He will climb anywhere he has access, no matter how many times I tell him no and put him back in his cage. He loves to fight and loves chewing on everything. He also likes to ride on my shoulder. He loves apples more than any rat I’ve seen. He’s also the biggest pack rat ever. He’s got stashes all over the place. If he sees Oscar getting something, he’s got to have it too, even if he doesn’t like it (and visa versa pretty much). |

When I first got Luke, Felix really seemed to take him under his wing. It was amazing. He would always be sleeping with him, grooming him, kind of "watching" out for him. I don’t know if it was because they both look similar from the shoulders up or what. But when Luke was little, Felix was his closest step-brother. Oscar did the same thing for Monty. Of course, they’re both albinos and now that Monty is almost the same size as Oscar, unless they’re moving, I almost can’t tell them apart. Oscar was also way nicer to Claude too. Claude and Oscar will cuddle up sometimes in the living room. But when Felix gets near, Claude zips away. |

Oscar, king of all he views, sits atop my bike, looking over his peasant brothers below. |
Oh gee. It's Felix's favorite pastime. Chewing on my door frames. There goes my deposit. |

Now that's one good looking rodent. |
